This is a short notice for a small, invite-only test and the website that recruits for it. It says exactly what we collect and why.
1. What we collect
| Data | How | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Your playtest application: Discord username, email, region, graphics card, the class you main, when you can play, and your 18+ and terms confirmations | You fill in the form on this site | To choose testers and send invites |
| The player name you type into the game | You enter it | To show in matches and to match your questionnaire to your matches |
| Match statistics: class, weapon, ability and gadget picks, kills, deaths, damage, accuracy, revives, time in zones, join and leave times, disconnect reason | Recorded by the game server during play | Balance and bug-finding. This is the point of the test |
| Performance information: average and minimum frame rate, your graphics card's name, your ping to the server | Sent by the game at the end of a match | To learn what hardware and connections the game runs well on |
| Connection logs, which include your IP address | Created automatically by the game server, like any online game | To diagnose connection problems; we don't use it for anything else |
| Game log and crash files | Only if you choose to attach them to a bug report | To fix what you hit |
| Questionnaire answers and your Discord messages | You write them | Feedback |
We don't collect your real name, payment details, location beyond the region you pick, or anything from outside the game and this site.
2. This website
No cookies, no analytics, no ads and no third-party scripts. Fonts are served from this site. The application form sends your answers to Google Forms, which we run on Google Workspace. Our web host, Cloudflare, processes standard request data such as IP addresses to deliver and protect the site.
3. Where it lives and who sees it
Data is stored in the United States: game server data on Amazon Web Services, applications and questionnaire answers in Google Workspace, and website traffic passes through Cloudflare. These companies host data for us; they don't get to use it for their own purposes. Only the developer and anyone helping run the test can see it. We don't sell it, share it with advertisers, or combine it with data from other services. Discord has its own privacy policy for what you post there.
4. How long we keep it
Applications, server data and questionnaire answers are kept for 90 days after the test ends, then deleted, except for aggregated balance numbers with no names in them, which we may keep.
5. Seeing, fixing or deleting your data
Use any player name you like; it doesn't have to identify you. To see, correct or delete what we hold about you, email privacy@pewpewpandemonium.com with the Discord username or player name you used. We'll do it within 30 days and confirm. If you're in a place with specific privacy rights (California, the EU and UK, and others), those rights apply and the same email is how to use them.
6. Do Not Track and tracking by others
This site and the game don't track you across other websites, so there's nothing for a browser's Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal to switch off; every visit is treated the same. No third party collects information about your activity over time or across websites through this site or the game.
7. Age
The playtest is for people 18 and older. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone younger; if you think we have, tell us and we'll delete it.
8. Changes
If what we collect changes, we'll update this page and its effective date and post about it in the Discord's #announcements. If the game's collection changes, you'll see the new notice and be asked to accept it in-game before you play again.
